New position created at county codes enforcement division

NORWICH – A new position within Chenango County’s code enforcement division was created Monday without nay from a single county lawmaker.

The part-time position will help the Chenango County Department of Health, the overseeing agency of the county codes enforcement division, play catch-up to the 900-plus permits that are open county-wide.

Department heads made their case to create a new position during a July meeting of the county’s Safety and Rules Committee. Pointing to more open permits than it can feasibly handle, the department solicited elected officials for the creation a new part-time codes inspector position to help alleviate some of the its compounding workload.
