YMCA registrations now open for fall youth sports
NORWICH – Registration for the Norwich YMCA flag football and outdoor soccer camps is currently underway. Individuals can register until Sunday, September 18.
The flag football registration is open to children ages 5-8. All individuals must fill out a registration form at the front desk of the YMCA, or online at www.norwichymca.com. The fee will be $25 for members, and $50 for non-members.
The class will be instructional only, and will teach the fundamentals of Flag Football, including kicking, passing, catching, stances, positions, teamwork, sportsmanship and the importance of having fun. The basics of Pop Warner football will also be taught.
The outdoor soccer program is for boys and girls between the ages of 3-6. This class will also be instructional only. The basic fundamentals of soccer will be taught, including passing, kicking, throw-ins, positioning, teamwork, sportsmanship and the importance of having fun.
Practices for Flag Football will be held from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Once a week, at the Gibson Elementary School, and the season is expected to end on Thursday, Oct. 27.
Practices for soccer will take place from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. once a week at the Gibson Elementary School, and there will be no scheduled games, except for scrimmages. The season is expected to last six weeks, concluding on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
