Firewood to be auctioned as fundraiser for nearby children's hospitals
BOONVILLE - Log-A-Load for Kids is auctioning off a truckload of log-length firewood donated by Beers Logging company to raise money for local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
The tri-axle load of timber was harvested locally and will be shipped free of charge to the highest bidder within 30 miles of Earlville, NY.
Log-A-Load for Kids is the Empire State Forest Products Association’s (ESFPA) charitable contribution to local communities. The benefaction from Beers Logging is a recurring donation to Log-A-Load, and the funds collected from the highest bidder will go directly to this area’s nearest Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
The load of logs should yield at least 18 face-cords of firewood once cut and split by the purchaser. The requested minimum bid of $500 or more should be submitted by email to emowrey12@gmail.com before noon on Sunday, August 21 for consideration. Telephone bids will also be accepted.
The firewood auction is part of Log-A-Load for Kids’ annual fundraising effort at the New York State Woodsmen’s Field Days, which is taking place this weekend in Boonville, NY. This year, Log-A-Load will be raffling off a number of chainsaws, electronics, a quilt, rustic furniture, and various woodcrafts. There will also be wood pellets from New England Wood Pellet up for bid.
After reaching their goal of raising $20,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network at last year’s Field Days, Log-A-Load has increased their goal to $21,000 this year.
Bids can also be submitted in person at the Log-A-Load fundraising booth on the main grounds of the NYS Woodsmen’s Field Days until 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 21. Payment must be made by check, made out to ‘ESFPA Foundation: Log-A-Load for Kids.’ The highest bidder will be notified by 5 p.m. Sunday evening.
