Lady Storm off to a quick start
UNADILLA VALLEY – The Unadilla Valley varsity volleyball team has awaited opening day all summer, and now on Sept. 6, finally showed what their hard work has amounted to when they defeated Delhi in four sets, winning 3-1.
During the first set, UV would see stiff competition to begin as the match would come down to just a two point victory at 25-23.
The Bulldogs of Delhi would use some of their momentum from the close first set to earn one set back for themselves, when they edged the match score to 1-1, beating UV at 25-21.
From there on out it was all UV as they battled back and forth with Delhi, however would claim both of the following sets. The third set would see a Storm win at 25-21, however, Delhi would not go down with a fight as what would be the final set in the match would go to extra points as a victory was not declared until UV would eventually edge Delhi at 30-28.
Delhi would see some standouts on the day: Adia Vohs,and Kendra Ackerly each had nine aces in the matchup. While Madison Saleman had 10 digs and Faith Sangler had eight kills and two blocks.
Unadilla Valley would have Keana Schrag record eight aces and 11 digs. With Erin Kelly and Megan Carpenter each having nine assists. Gina DelSontro had seven kills, with Bailey Miller and Holly Carpenter each having three kills.
Unadilla Valley will face-off against Greene on Friday, September, 9 at 6 p.m.
