Board of Elections notifies of last day to register, change party
CHENANGO COUNTY - The last date to register to vote in the Tuesday, November 8, 2016 general election will be on Saturday, October 15. You may register at the County Board of Elections located at 5 Court Street in Norwich between the hours of 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Any currently registered Chenango County voter who has moved within the county and has not updated their address with the Board of Elections since the last time they voted may do so before October 19.
The deadline for submitting a party enrollment change, which will become effective seven days after the 2016 general election, is October 14.
Voters who have a physical disability, temporary illness, or who will be out of the county on general election day between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. can request an absentee ballot application. The completed application must be postmarked no later than November 1, or it may be brought to the Board of Elections by November 7, before 5 p.m
Normal business hours for the Board of Elections are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In additional to regular hours of operation, the office will also be open Thursday, October 13, until 8:30 p.m. to assist with voter registration needs.
