Tornado volleyball destroys Warriors on the road

CHENANGO VALLEY – Coming off a devastating defeat to Owego at 0-3, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, Norwich would rally for a win against Chenango Valley to draw their overall record to 1-1 on Sept, 9.
“We made some adjustment in practice and tried correcting some mistakes that we made. The girls had a great game and for the most part stayed consistent with their play tonight,” said Norwich head coach Shelly Alger.
Norwich would cruise to their 3-0 win over the Warriors of CV with a first set win at 25-9, a second set win at 25-19, and a third set win to close out the match at 25-16.
“We had solid serving and read the opponents serve well. All players had the opportunity to see action tonight,” said coach Alger.
Norwich standouts in the three sets would be Meghan Komendarek who tallied up eight kills and one ace; Riley Strong with nine assists, Kara Evans with four aces and seven kills, Kalie Binelli with two aces, six kills, and two digs, and Leahanne Humphrey and Ripley Strong who each recorded four assists a piece.
Norwich will next see action on Tuesday, Sept. 13 when they will be traveling to Oneonta.
