Norwich edges rival Yellowjackets

ONEONTA – The Norwich varsity volleyball team would see some stiff competition from the Yellowjackets of Oneonta, when they traveled there to eventually play a five set game ending in a 3-2 Norwich victory on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

“The girls fought a tough match. Had the crowd on the edge of their seats,” said Norwich head coach Shelly Alger.

The Tornado would jump out to an early 2-0 lead over the Yellowjackets winning their first two sets at 25-20, and a close 25-23.

The Yellowjackets wouldn’t surrender the loss that easily as they would battle back for a 2-2 tie late in the game, effectively beating Norwich in the third and fourth sets at a dominating 15-25, and 20-25.
