Oxford volleyball remains undefeated

OXFORD – The lady Blackhawks of Oxford have proved they are a force to be reckoned with thus far into the 2016 season following their most recent win over Walton.
The Walton Warriors would come to Oxford on Sept. 21, in a matchup that would see early domination from the Blackhawks as they cleanly won the first two sets before closing out the third for a 3-0 win.
Allison Beckwith, a sophomore, would stand out among her fellow lady Blackhawks when she strung together an impressive game recording four aces and three assists on the night. Indaria Quintana, a senior, would tack on three additional aces, while senior Lacey Hatahaway would record six digs in the game.
The superb play from the Beckwith, Quintana, and Hathaway among many other Blackhawks on the night would secure a 2-0 start to the match after Oxford successfully won the first two sets at 25-8 and 25-11.
The third, and what would ultimately prove to be the final set, would prove the hardest to overcome for Oxford as the Warriors would make Oxford earn each point taking the third set to a score of 25-22.
Following the 3-0 win at home Oxford (3-0) will now have one day to regroup before they host Harpursville on Thursday, Sept. 22. As for Walton (3-2) they will have slightly more time to rest, before they host Unatego on Friday, Sept. 23.
