Man shares his journey to recovery
NORIWCH – John Maloney began his road to recovery at Norwich Rehab on May 8, 2016. He’s now been discharged, and is full of gratitude, hope and confidence.
Maloney sustained multiple injuries following a car accident that left him hospitalized for a lengthy period of time. He explained he didn’t think he would make it to recovery.
“I had no use of my left arm and loss of my right leg,” Maloney said. “My road to recovery began when I arrived at Norwich Rehab.”
Said Maloney, “It all started that day, when I was unable to sit up in bed or move for all that matter. The aides had to hoyer lift me to get me into bed. I have very limited accessibility and needed all the aide assistance I could get.”
Maloney continued, “My days became brighter with the start of therapy.”
He explained that he sat and pondered if he would be able to improve with the therapy. “It seemed so far away,” he said.
“From May 8, 2016 until now I never missed a single day of therapy,” said Maloney. “After a few weeks of them pushing me and me being dedicated I could start to see improvements. There was still a long road ahead.”
