Jackson Miller carries Deposit-Hancock to second win in 2016, thrashing the Bobcats
BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats now rest, winless in 2016, as they saw their young squad fall victim to a run-heavy Deposit-Hancock, losing in a blowout at 54-26.
Following the beginnings of the game, it looked to be a true contest with the score knotted at 6-6, however a determined Deposit-Hancock wasted no time finding their way to the end zone, as they finished just the first quarter at 21-6.
Jackson Miller would find the end zone for the first of four scores in the game, as he opened up the contest when he plowed his way in for the touchdown from seven yards out.
This was quickly answered with a Bobcat score after quarterback Austin Carr ripped off a 65 yard sprint to the end zone.
Miller would again pound his way in for the Deposit-Hancock score, this time from one yard out – followed by a Darren Shaver kick for the 13-6 lead.
Shaver, not happy with just one point in the contest, would then intercept a Carr pass for the 55 yard interception return for the touchdown – Dustin Daly point after kick.
Carr, staring in the face of adversity would rally his squad after his costly interception. Carr and the Bobcats would string together two drives ending in touchdowns – both Carr rushing scores from one and three yards out – as BG would draw with a touchdown of Deposit-Hancock at 27-20 as they neared the the end of the half.
It was then that quarterback Darren Shaver opened up the floodgates on the Bobcats, scoring on 31 yard pass to Cole Russell to close out the half.
A regrouped BG following the halftime break would be manhandled coming out of the break by their rejuvenated visitors, Deposit-Hancock.
Deposit-Hancock would follow up the score to close out the half – already up 33-20 – by stacking together four touchdowns in the third quarter alone. Deposit-Hancock would see scores in the third from: Darren Shaver from one yard out – Dustin Daly kick, Jackson Miller 17 yard run, another Miller touchdown at 49 yards, and another Shaver to Russell touchdown connection– Levi Wormuth two-point conversion run.
54-20 is what the scoreboard would read following the completion of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter would see a new face at quarterback, as Carr would be replaced by Evan Hyzer. Hyzer would tack on a late score for the Bobcats – Hyzer to Mason Brown for a 15 yard receiving touchdown – in what was deemed a loss essentially following the third quarter explosion by Deposit-Hancock.
Miller of Deposit-Hancock would steal the show in the win with his 197 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. While leading the Bobcats in the loss would be Austin Carr with 97 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, however only completing five of fifteen passes for 76 yards and three interceptions. B-G would also suffer through two lost fumbles in a game that mistakes let Deposit-Hancock slip away with the win.
Bainbridge-Guilford (0-4) will keep searching for that ever so elusive first win of the season when they travel to Walton on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 1:30 p.m.
