Undefeated: Bobcats continue to dominate on the courts
UNATEGO – A young team usually means a losing or sub par record for a high school team, but not for the ladies of Bainbridge-Guilford's varsity volleyball team who have now moved to a perfect 10-0.
Most recently on Tuesday, Oct. 4, the B-G Bobcats clawed their way in and out of the Unatego high school gym before the lady Spartans even knew what hit them.
Facing no real challenge in the three set match, B-G dominated each set from start to finish taking a 25-4 win to open up the flood gates. This first set win was followed by B-G wins at 25-12, and 25-14.
In the loss for Unatego, Alyssa Blanco had a solid day recording three kills and three digs, followed by Carly Hill with three aces, and Juliet Gagliardo with one block.
However, the impressive stats on the day came from the Bobcats as Abigail Selfridge had six aces, 14 assists, and four kills in the win. Selfridge was followed by fellow tenth grader Zamira Caldwell with one ace and seven kills, while younger sister Erica Selfridge – eighth grade – produced five aces, 11 assists and six kills in the dominating win.
Up next for the undefeated Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats (10-0 overall, 9-0 MAC league) they will host fellow Chenango County team Oxford on Friday evening Oct. 7, where they will hold their senior recognition night prior to the match. The game is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
