Tornado girls soccer concludes 2016 with a loss
BINGHAMTON – In what marked the final game of the season, Norwich varsity girls soccer team fell victim one more time on the season, losing 3-0 to the Chenango Valley Warriors.
The Tornado girls were looking to upset the CV crowd with a win as they were playing their last game on the road during Cvs senior recognition night, on Oct. 5. However, after suffering a 2-0 deficit in the first half of play, the traction for the comeback in the game was just nonexistent as Norwich slipped allowing one additional goal in the second half.
Scoring for Chenango Valley off of their stellar 22 shots on goal was Meg Rossie, Sara Marinaro, and Marie Forbidussi.
For the lady Tornado they could only muster two shots within the game with no corner kicks.
Silver-lining in the loss for Norwich was another great performance from their goalkeeper, Saige Benedict, who notched up 11 saves. CVs goalkeeper would save both shots on goal, recording two.
Following the 3-0 loss to CV on the road, Norwich (1-10-1) concludes their 2016 campaign.
“We were a young team this season and are looking towards next season to increase our stats, and show what the Norwich Purple Tornado can do,” said Norwich head coach Matt Wilson following the loss to end the season.
