NORWICH – In lieu of a parade, the Norwich High School Pep Club has organized a Homecoming Carnival to precede the football game, and it is free to the public.
The Carnival will take place from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. just inside the gates of the Norwich football field. There will be free carnival games, face-painting, a photo-booth, and plenty of carnival-themed goodies up for grabs.
In addition to the many fundraisers that will be taking place, the event will have a 'Beat the Car' breast cancer awareness fundraiser where people can pay money to take a baseball bat to a real-life car to symbolize beating cancer.
The community oriented event will lead up to the 6:45 p.m. honoring of the NHS Fall Sports teams, right before the game kicks-off at 7 p.m. where the Tornado will take on the Susquehanna Valley Sabers.
At halftime, the Homecoming Queen will be announced and for the first time, a Homecoming King will be honored as well.
Following the game, the annual Homecoming dance will commence for NHS students.
“I'm really excited for the first Homecoming Carnival and for our community to come and be a part of it all,” said NHS Pep Club Advisor Bethany Stratton. “I want to give a huge shout-out the the NHS Pep Club, whose involvement this year has skyrocketed. We have 50 kids in Pep Club and this definitely would not have been possible without all of their dedication and hard work.”
