NORWICH – Two men who were previously convicted of heinous crimes in Chenango County will have their new trial dates set in the Chenango County Court Thursday afternoon.

Ganesh R. Ramsaran, was previously convicted of murder in the second degree in September, 2014, while Michael J. Victor Jr., was convicted of ten separate drugs, weapons and conspiracy charges in September, 2011. Both men took their cases to the appellate court of New York and their guilty verdicts were overturned.

Ramsaran saw his conviction overturned in July, 2016, after an appeal decision handed down by the Supreme Court, Appellate Division: Third Judicial Department. They determined that there was merit to Ramsaran's contention that his defense counsel was ineffective, therefore not providing him with the opportunity for a fair trial.
