NORWICH – At the final 'Saturday in the Park: Harvest Series' of the season last Saturday, Oct. 22, the event hosted their inaugural soup competition. The contestants included: Nina's, Park Place, Becky's Diner, Smokin' Bones, the Cottage Bakery, the Ontario, Blue Star Cafe, and America Legion Hellcats baseball team.

After careful consideration by celebrity judges Norwich Mayor Christine Carnrike, Norwich Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo, Norwich Police Chief Rodney Marsh, Tyler Saroka, and Chenango County Judge Frank Revoir, the top three soups were decided.

Placing first was the Ontario with a beef barley soup, in second place was Blue Star Cafe with a zucchini chowder, and the American Legion Hellcats took third with a smoked chicken, carrots, and wild rice soup.
