NORWICH – This past weekend, Saturday, Nov. 12, the 5th annual Norwich YMCA Thanks 4 Giving volleyball tournament – an 18-team, co-ed tournament – came to a conclusion. The result was another year filled with non-stop volleyball action, ending with a champion being crowned in the advance rec, and competitive divisions'.

The tournament supports the YMCAs annual campaign for Roots and Wings, the Norwich-based food pantry.

Over 100 players from New York, Pennsylvania and Canada competed in 2016.

A local Norwich team “The Goat” headed by Logan Dolan defeated a Harpursville, New York team in the advanced rec division, with a final score of 2-0 in set wins.

It was two small town teams knocking out all the others in the competitive division final, as the “Cold Six Packs” from New Milford, Pennsylvania defeated “Spike Warfare” from Trumansburg, New York.
