AFTON—One fatality was reported following a motor vehicle accident along County Highway 39 in the Town of Afton over the weekend according to authorities.

Investigators with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office say that the one car roll-over occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Sheriff’s investigators have identified the driver as 64-year-old Steven D. Nickerson, of Afton. According to police, Nickerson was traveling westbound on County Road 39 when his vehicle veered off the westbound shoulder of the roadway before striking an earth embankment and overturning.
