UNADILLA- On Dec. 5, at approximately 5:06 p.m., the New York State Police at Sidney responded to an Otsego County 911 report of a car pedestrian accident on Main Street in the Town of Unadilla.

Following an investigation it was determined that Edward A. McKinley III, 15, of Unadilla, was walking with another person on the westbound shoulder of Main Street when he was struck by a 2003 Hyundai Santa-Fe that was also traveling westbound. The driver of the Hyundai, Michelle L. Swift, 47, of Unadilla, was not injured from the accident. The accident occurred on a dark roadway near the shoulder. According to authorities Swift was not intoxicated or impaired by drugs at the time of the accident.

McKinley was transported by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, with severe head and body injuries where he later succumbed to the injuries on Dec. 6.
