The blowouts continue for Norwich

BINGHAMTON – Norwich varsity boys basketball traveled down route 12 to the Binghamton area, where they subsequently slashed Chenango Valley for the 59-30 win.

Despite a low day on scoring for Norwich on Dec. 8, their defense was able to hold the Warriors to lows in the game only allowing a mere five two-point and three-point baskets a piece.

However, it wasn’t all high-flying basketball for Norwich who – just like Chenango Valley – struggled mightily to begin the contest. Emerging from the first period with a score at just 9-3, it was then the Purple Tornado who turned on the jets to pull away from the Warriors. Norwich went on to score 22 points in the second period, burying CV who could only managed nine points for the 31-12 deficit.

Leading the Tornado to another victory on the road was Dashawn King, Ky'sawn Veale, and Tre Bonham – the trio netted 66 percent of the scoring for Norwich on the day, as they scored 16, 12 and 11 points respectively.

Impressively for the Tornado defense – who allowed just 7 points in the fourth period following their 11 point allowance in the third – they would successfully hold all of the Warrior shooters under nine points. The lone Warrior to reach nine was Matt Melesky.

Norwich (5-0 overall) will now have a weekend to recover, before they host Owego this coming Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7:45 p.m. in the NHS Gymnasium.
