S-E boys drop 40 second half points to lift them over Clinton

CLINTON – The Sherburne-Earlville boys varsity basketball team went on the road where they subsequently handled Clinton, emerging with the 56-55 win.

It was a tale of two totally different halves last Friday, Dec. 9, the Marauders who trailed Clinton 10-4 after just one period; and 27-16 at the half would make a 180 turn on the day once they emerged from the halftime break. Riding off the hot play of Matt Hull and Hunter Lane, S-E put up back-to-back 20-point periods to answer Clinton and take the one-point win on the road.

The Marauders were led in scoring by Hull and Lane who netted 20 and 18-points respectively in the contest. Impressively,16 of the 20-points scored by Hull, and 13 of the 18-points scored by Lane would come in the second half of play.

Leading Clinton in scoring was Matt Hubika who did most of his damage in the first half, as he netted a total of 15-points.

The road win at 56-55 for Sherburne-Earlville, will successfully hand the Marauders their first win of the season as they now sit at 1-2 overall. Up next for S-E, they will enjoy a week off of competition before returning to the court on Dec. 19, where they will travel to face Adirondack at 7:30 p.m.
