Jackson and Dye help lift the Storm over the Bobcats
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley valiantly defended their home court with a big win over fellow county team Bainbridge-Guilford when they held off the Bobcats for the win at 55-40.
The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats attempted to unseat the home Storm on Dec. 16, only to find themselves in the mix of a duel attack from standouts Dante Dye and Andrew Jackson. The two headed monster of Dye and Jackson helped decisively lead UV over B-G as the pair combined for 32 points – 13 points for Dye and 19 for Jackson.
Although free throws were not UVs forte on the night combing as a team to go 5-14, it was the rebounding offensive and defensive prowess of Dye and Jackson that made the difference in the semi-close game at the half – Dye grabbed five assists to go with his 13 points, while also tacking on four steals.
UV would ultimately lead 28-17 at the half, before emerging from the locker room only to drop a game high 19 points on the Bobcats in the third period.
Leading B-G in scoring during their loss was Sean Jones who netted his points in the second and third periods for a total of eight points.
Up next for Unadilla Valley following their win, they will host Unatego on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 7:15 p.m. Following Bainbridge-Guilford's loss they will have a home game against Delhi on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 7:15 p.m.
