Holland-Patent hands S-E a loss

SHERBURNE – The Lady Marauders varsity volleyball team has struggled to find rhythm in their play thus far this season, as they most recently fell to league opponent Holland-Patent by a set score of 3-0.
“We are young and struggling to find our identity,” said Sherburne-Earlville head coach Ed Holmquist. “The girls work hard and give good effort.”
The shutout over Sherburne-Earlville came by scores of 25-10, and 25-13, in the first two sets. Down 2-0, and faced with an elimination set the Lady marauders battled to their best outing of the night – although losing – they managed to score 15, losing 25-15 for the final set.
S-E was led by Sam Johnson, Abbey Stratton, and KK Guiles. Johnson recorded two aces, four aces, and three digs; Stratton grabbed six assists, and two digs; while Guiles snagged six kills, two assists, and two digs.
Next up for Sherburne-Earlville (0-5 overall, 0-2 league) they will travel to Herkimer on Friday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m.
