Sidney man to face DWI, weapons charges
TIOGA—On Jan. 7, shortly after 9:30 p.m., N.Y. State Troopers at Owego arrested Gary S. Reed Jr., age 42, from Sidney for the misdemeanor of aggravated driving while intoxicated, felony criminal possession of weapon in the second degree, along with other traffic violations.
The arrest occurred after receiving a complaint from his family over his alleged erratic behavior. With the assistance of the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop was conducted after Reed was observed driving on State Route 17C in the Town of Tioga.
An investigation determined that Reed was driving while highly intoxicated and in possession of a loaded stolen handgun. He was arrested without incident.
Reed was arraigned in the Town of Tioga Court and was remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 property bond. His next court date has been scheduled for Feb. 8, 2017.
