Modern folk trio Milkweed to perform at 6 On The Square

OXFORD – Straight out of the tight knit and rising folk music scene of Binghamton, Milkweed has been drawing crowds and critical acclaim through their second year of full time touring. This weekend, the acclaimed group is headed up route 12 for an intimate appearance at Oxford's 6 On The Square.
The close to home performance will serve as yet another notch in Milkweed's belt of unique shows that break from the norm with their raised platform and attention to lyrics and depth of lush three part harmonies.
Heralded as both whimsical and melancholy, Milkweed’s music bridges the gaps between genres, combining storytelling with poetry, flat picking with Piedmont blues, and gospel with some hints of rock and roll. Through great dynamics the band can produce fragile spellbinding moments, and then create a full sound far surpassing the expected limits of a trio.
With the release of their first full length album, Dream of an American Family, recorded by the great Don Sternaker (Railroad Earth, From Good Homes, Peter Gabriel, Blues Traveler) and mastered by the legendary Gene Paul (John Prine, Nora Jones, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack), Milkweed is on the list of 'must sees' and 'bands to watch for'.
Trio Peter Lister, Jacqueline Colombo, and Joseph Alston, can be seen, and more importantly heard many a great listening rooms and theaters across northeast and beyond.
Tickets for the show are just $10 apiece, and can either purchased on-line through the 6OTS website at 6onthesquare.org or at the door; doors open one hour prior to performance set for 7:30 this Saturday, Jan. 14.
Looking ahead, upcoming performances the likes of Christine Lavin and Don White are slated for Saturday, Jan. 21; and The Grimm Family Band will make an appearance on Saturday, Jan. 28.
While at 6OTS, be sure to take in a collection of acrylic and oil abstract by Greg Watson, on exhibit through March 12.
