Support group forms for parents who have lost their children
NORWICH – An area support group for parents who have lost a child has been formed in an effort to give people who have experienced such a loss a place to interact with others who share a similar journey of mourning.
There is no possible way to prepare for losing a child to accidental death or illness. When the death of a child occurs – regardless of the circumstances – parents are left grieving, and often without a clear, attainable path as to how they can move forward.
The support group is inviting parents who have lost children recently, or even decades ago, to visit the group which strives to provide a safe place for parents to share stories and comfort.
The group will meet on Wednesday, January 18, at 7 p.m. in the Norwich Family YMCA located at 68 North Broad Street in Norwich. Additional meetings will take place in the forseeable future.
While the group is intended to serve parents who have been affected by the loss of a child, anyone who is open to offering their support to affected parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
For further information on the support group, contact Linda DeLong at (607) 334-8793, or Pastor Spiegel at the Norwich First Baptist Church at (607) 336-2509.
