SHERBURNE – Both the Sherburne-Earlville boy’s and girl’s varsity bowling teams managed to keep up their winning ways of late.
On the girl’s side, S-E travelled to Cooperstown last Thursday, Jan. 19, and came away with a 535 pin win, on a scoreline of 2285 total pins to Cooperstown’s 1750 total pins.
The Marauder girls were stable throughout the matchup, knocking down over 700 pins in each of the three games, which carried them to the victory.
Standout performers in the win included Jordyn Paul, who finished with a single-game high of 210 for S-E, and had a final series score of 544; Liesa Armstrong, who had a single-game high of 206, with a series score of 531; and Jade Diamond, who notched a single-game high of 199, and finished with a series score of 515.
The boy’s have been extremely busy over the last couple of weeks, partaking in four different clashes.
On Jan. 5, they hosted Holland Patent, and won a very close encounter by just four pins, 2403 total pins to 2399 total pins.
The Marauders took the first two games of the series, but to the visitor’s credit, they never gave up, and came up just short, despite claiming the victory in the third game.
Best in the win for S-E were Derek Duerheimer, who had a very impressive single-game high of 253, and finished with a 645 series, and Wyatt Youngs, who recorded a single-game high of 211, and contributed a series score of 544.
A day after their close victory, the Marauders journeyed to take on Adirondack. In what was another nail-biter, S-E came away with the spoils once again, as they won on a scoreline of 2429 total pins to 2385 total pins.
The Marauders dropped the first game of this series, but shaped up to win the next two by a considerable margin, thus securing the victory.
Wyatt Youngs starred once more for the Marauders, logging a single-game high of 231 on his way to a 602 series., while Nick Fountaine added a series score of 483 to help his side to victory.
After a short break, S-E was back in action on Jan. 12, when they hosted Little Falls. This series was not as close, as the marauder offense was in fine form to clinch the win, scoring 2702 pins in comparison to 2428 total pins for their opposition.
S-E used scores of 972 in game one, and 899 in game two of the games to power their way to success.
Wyatt Youngs and Derek Duerheimer were key components of the S-E attack, as they contributed series scores of 664 and 612 respectively. Youngs also finished with the single-game high for S-E, knocking down 252 pins in game one.
Seeking their fourth consecutive win, the Marauders hosted Notre Dame High School on Jan. 13. They were efficient once again, coming away with another victory, on a scoreline of 2602 total pins to 2475.
The Marauders came from behind in this one also, notching scores of 902 in game two, and 830 in game three to clinch the come-from-behind win.
Nick Fountaine and Trace Kane played big roles in this win for the Marauders, recording series scores of 561 and 544 respectively.
Following this four-game win streak, the S-E boy’s now stand at 8-2 on the season, and own a perfect 4-0 in division play. They will voyage to face off against Canastota next Thursday, Jan. 26. That matchup is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
