S-E bowling stays strong

EARLVILLE – Both the Sherburne-Earlville boy’s and girl’s varsity bowling teams have been extremely active over the last couple of weeks.
On the girl’s side, the team picked up two consecutive wins against tough opposition. Last Friday, Jan. 27, they faced off against West Canada Valley Central High School, coming away victors on a final score of 1,964 total pins to 1,606 total pins.
The Marauders used three consecutive games of over 600 pins to clinch the victory, with Liesa Armstrong boasting the highest single-game score of the match, with a 185 in game three, as well as the highest series score, with a 495.
Three days later, on Monday, Jan. 30, the lady Marauders took on Herkimer in their eleventh match of the season, and continued to roll for another win on a scoreline of 2,153 total pins to 1,577.
S-E bowled exceptionally well in this matchup, recording games of 619, 746 and 788 respectively on their way to a comfortable plus 576-pin victory.
Liesa Armstrong was once again the star of the show, as she had a very impressive single-game high of 234 in game three for the Marauders, and logged a 650 three—game series, while Jordyn Paul also had a strong match, notching a 559 series score.
After their latest wins, the lady Marauders now stand at a formidable 10-1 on the season.
The S-E boy’s have also been very successful of late, as they logged another win against Herkimer High School on Monday, Jan. 30.
In a blowout win, where the Marauders won by a massive plus 672-point margin, they were able to retain their offense prowess of late, recording games of 861, 829 and 785 respectively while their opponents struggled mightily.
Derek Duerheimer had the best single-game of the match for either side, recording a 203 in game one of the series, as well as the best series score on the night, with a 552. Wyatt Youngs also preformed well once again, as he had a 514 three-game series score.
Senior night marks the next matchup for the S-E bowlers, which will take place at Hi-Skor Lanes, in Earlville this coming Thursday, Feb. 2, when the Marauders host Canastota. The presentation will begin at 4 p.m. sharp.
