GREENE- On Tuesday January 31, 2017 at approximately 9:48 a.m. the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received a report of a two car motor vehicle crash on State Route 12 in the Village of Greene. The Village of Greene Police Department arrived on the scene and requested assistance from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
The Driver of vehicle one, Danny Frayer, 64, Oxford, was northbound when a southbound vehicle (two), being operated by Kyle Skidmore, 33 from Binghamton, crossed the center line and was struck by Frayer’s vehicle. The passenger in Frayer’s vehicle, Thomas Whittaker, 54, of Greene, was pronounced dead at the scene. Frayer was transported by Greene Ambulance Services to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City with minor injuries. Skidmore was transported by Greene Ambulance Services to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for treatment of serious internal injuries. Frayer and Skidmore were both wearing seat belts during the accident, Whittaker was not.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office has determined that Skidmore was operating at an unsafe speed for road conditions and failed to keep right. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Greene Fire Department, the Geneganslet Fire Department, the Brisben Fire Department, and by the New York State Department of Transportation.
