NORWICH- Despite Emily Davis leading the home town Crusaders with 17 points on the night, Finger Lakes Christian School was able to deter any other Valley Heights player from reaching double-digit scoring. Ultimately, Finger Lakes won in a close one 31-26 at BOCES.

The first quarter of play saw FLCS take the early 9-8 lead over the host Crusaders. Lissah Waterman scored five of her team high 15 points in the opening quarter for the visitors, while Valley Heights’ Emily Davis scored six of her own in the quarter.

If the first quarter had any offensive pace to it, the second quarter was dominated by stifling defense from both teams as each team scored six points in the second period of play. With both teams headed to the locker room and the score 15-14 in advantage of Finger Lakes.

Facing a one-point deficit, Valley Heights had a much bigger dilemma on their hands as they faced some foul trouble, recording seven personals to the opponent’s one personal in the first half.

The second half proved to be deadly to the Crusaders falling behind, this time by a score of 24-21 by the conclusion of the third period. With the game still hanging in the balance and the Crusaders’ Davis running on all cylinders it appeared that Valley Heights was primed for a comeback.
