GREENE – The Greene boy’s varsity swimming team did not see a reversal of fortunes in their latest meet, which took place on Feb. 7, as they lost to Southern Cayuga High School on a score of 92-59.
It didn’t take long for the Trojans to make their mark on the matchup, as they claimed first place wins in the second event of the night, the 200-meter medley relay, with a time of 2:07.45.
After that point, things were rough for Greene. Gray Reid earned his team a third place finish in the 200-meter freestyle event, with a time of 2:26.88 before the Trojans made their way back to the top spot in event number seven of the night, the 200-meter inter-medley relay.
Some key performances came through for Greene in the later half of the meet. Dustin Markham recorded a personal record time of 59.89 in the 100-meter freestyle event, where he achieved second place, while Matt DeJager had another career night, logging personal record times in the 50-meter freestyle swim (28.69) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:14.60). Dominic Williams also notched a personal record time of 28.91 in the 50-meter freestyle competition.
The Trojans will participate in their last meet of the season this Friday, Feb. 10, against Dryden before they travel to the Sectional Tournament next Wednesday, Feb. 15.
