Chobani listed among the world's most innovative companies for 2017

NORWICH – Chobani, LLC, announced yesterday, February 13, that it earned a spot on Fast Company magazine's annual ranking of the world's 50 Most Innovative Companies for 2017, landing it among the leading enterprises and rising newcomers that best exemplify nimble business and impactful innovation in the world.
In addition to being listed as one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies, Fast Company also has deemed Chobani as one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies for 2017 in two particular categories: Food, and Social Good. This is the second time Chobani has been honored on the Most Innovative list.
In a letter to employees obtained by The Evening Sun, Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya said, “As some of you might know, one of my favorite magazines is Fast Company. It's a very credible national magazine that highlights and celebrates businesses doing unique things while disrupting industries and conventions.”
“I’m really proud that this year we’re ranked as #1 Most Innovative Food Company and very, very proud that we’re ranked as the #1 Most Innovative Company for Social Good, followed by companies like Unilever, Nike & Patagonia,” said Ulukaya.
Fast Company's 50 Most Innovative Companies – one of Fast Company's most significant and highly anticipated editorial editions of the year – is produced annually by surveying thousands of enterprises across the globe to identify the most notable innovations of the year, and tracing the impact of those initiatives on business, industry, and world culture.
Chobani – which remains independantly owned – has announced several product and production expansions over the past year, including a $100 million investment to its plant in Twin Falls, Idaho, creating the largest yogurt manufacturing facility in the world.
On the heels of the success of Chobani's “Flip”™, Chobani also announced its expansion and investment beyond the yogurt aisle with Drink Chobani™ beverage.
Consequently, the company reports its sales growth is up 20 percent year-over-year versus the year prior.
According to Nielsen's xAOC Scantrack database for the yogurt category, as of December 31, 2016, Chobani's market-share of the overall spoonable yogurt category was 19.2 percent, which translates to roughly a 36.7 share of overall Greek Yogurt.
“I want us all to be proud of this,” continues Ulukaya in the letter to employees. “Recognitions like this remind us that awards don't drive us to do what we do – they're outcomes of our everyday actions and attitude. This was a true team effort and that makes me really happy.”
Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies issue (March 2017) is available now online at www.fastcompany.com/MIC as well as in app form via iTunes, and on newsstands beginning February 21.
