NORWICH – There was no party to be had following the Valley Heights girl’s varsity basketball senior night last Friday, Feb. 10, as they fell victim to Syracuse Christian Academy on a final score of 41-27.
“We were playing the team currently first in our league and we did amazingly well during the first half,” said Valley Heights head coach Sarah Moore. “While the scorebook doesn't show it, we were ahead for most of the second quarter and were really frustrating our opponent.”
A poor second half from the hosts marked their demise. Valley Heights offense mustered just 10 points through both the third and fourth quarters, while they gave up 19 points – 12 of which came in the fourth quarter.
The Grainger siblings proved to be too much too handle for Valley Heights on the night, as they accounted for all of their opponents points, with Kate amassing 27 of the total 41. Best in the loss for Valley Heights was Emily Davis, who had 13 points in the defeat.
