Tornado bowler’s finish fifth at STAC Championship

VESTAL – The STAC East Champion Norwich boy’s varsity bowling team closed out a strong season with a fifth place finish at the STAC Championship Tournament, which was held at Midway Lanes in Vestal last Friday, Feb. 10.
Waverly topped the podium, knocking down 2,773 total pins, with Union Springs/Port Byron coming in second place, scoring a total of 2,743 total pins, and Chenango Forks securing a third place finish, notching a total of 2,609 pins.
The Tornado utilized games of 838, 801 and 868 to amass 2,507 total pins, just behind fourth placed Windsor, who logged 2,576 total pins.
Best on the day for the Tornado were Corey Huggins, who had a single-game high of 201 in game three of the Tournament, and ended with a 565 series; Nick Deady, who had a single-game high of 195 in game one of the Tournament, and finished with a 541 three-game series; and Zack Clipston, who bowled a game high of 166 in game three of the Tournament, and finished with a 483 series.
With the Tornado season as a team now complete, Nick Deady will compete as an individual at the State qualifiers for a spot on the Section IV All-Star team next Saturday, Feb. 18.
