American Legion Auxiliary to host event, seeks vendors

NORWICH – On March 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Norwich American Legion Auxiliary Post 189 is hosting an antiques-crafts-and-garage sale at their post in Norwich, and they are inviting people around the area to come play a part.
The Auxiliary is inviting interested vendors around the area to rent space at the sale for $20. The Auxiliary will provide vendors with one table, though they note that vendors are invited to bring additional tables to use within their space if needed.
Space will be rented out on a first-come-first-serve basis, and will only be reserved upon the payment of the $20 fee. Checks can be made out to the 'American Legion Auxiliary Post 189.' Vendors are invited to set-up their station the day of the sale at 7 a.m. and are requested to stay until its completion at 4 p.m.
Those interested in renting a space are asked to call Sophie at (607) 336-6969 and leave a message, or by email at sophielib@yahoo.com.
The Auxiliary reports that there will also be baked goods and other food available for sale to vendors and shoppers.
The American Legion Auxiliary was founded in 1919 and reportedly has nearly one million members from around the world.
According to a media release from the Auxiliary, they administer hundreds of volunteer programs where they donate tens of thousands of hours to its communities and veterans, while raising millions to support its own programs and support other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans.
This year, the Auxiliary says that their Department President's project is supporting the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), which offers compassionate care to those grieving the death of a loved one serving in armed forces at no cost to surviving families and loves ones.
The Norwich American Legion Auxiliary Post 189 will be using this sale as a venue to raise donations to go towards the TAPS program, as well as to provide a number of scholarship opportunities to local students.
“Please consider bringing your items to sell at this event or feel free to stop-in to shop, eat, or just visit our Post to see what we are all about,” concludes the media release.
The Norwich American Legion Auxiliary Post 189 is located at 29 Sheldon Street in Norwich.
