Broome County Special Investigation Task Force arrest two on mutiple drug charges
UNION- Two were arrested Wednesday following the execution of a narcotics search warrant for a motel room located on East Main Street in the Town of Union.
During the search, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force allegedly found two individuals in possession of three plastic baggies each containing methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia which included digital scales, glassine envelopes and plastic packaging bags and marijuana.
• Ashley B. Backus, 32, from Binghamton was arrested and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, class A misdemeanors and unlawful possession of marijuana.
•Jonna K. Cassidy, 28, from Endwell was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, both class B felonies, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, class A misdemeanors and unlawful possession of marijuana.
In addition to this, Backus and Cassidy were both arrested for allegedly selling methamphetamine to another person on a separate date while in the City of Binghamton. The Task Force was assisted on scene by a narcotics detection canine unit from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Both Backus and Cassidy are being held at the Binghamton Police Department pending their arraignment on all charges.
The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force is comprised of members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Binghamton Police Department, the Village of Johnson City Police Department and the Village of Endicott Police Department.
The investigation is still ongoing and further details will be released.
