CCHS announces upcoming March events

NORWICH – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) and Museum are calling all county residents and beyond to come and join its festivities planned throughout the month of March.

On Saturday, Mar. 11, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the CCHS Museum–in collaboration with the Otselic Bicentennial Committee–will be hosting the “Celebrate Otselic's Bicentennial 1817-2017” exhibit opening.

The exhibit within the museum at 45 Rexford Street in Norwich will feature: men and women who had an impact in the development of Otselic including Grace Brown and Frank Cox; the Gladding Company and other industries and businesses; the Auburn Branch of the New York and Oswego Midland Railroad and the Rainbow Trestle once located in Otselic Center; churches and organizations significant to Otselic; and the progression of education in the Town of Otselic.

Additional displays will be in the Loomis Barn, Bob Marshman Agriculture Education Center, including a hand pump and hose cart circa 1850s on loan courtesy of the South Otselic Fire Department.

CCHS is inviting all to attend and be part of this unique look at the Town of Otselic.

The following Sunday, Mar. 12, the CCHS Museum will host its sixth Maple Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at its headquarters.
