Two suspects in custody following hours-long pursuit, no charges filed yet
CHENANGO COUNTY – Multiple law enforcement agencies took part in a pursuit of suspects late Tuesday night, resulting in the detainment of two individuals.
It was reported by Chenango County Sheriff Ernest R. Cutting Jr. that at approximately 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2017, Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigators, in conjunction with officers from the Oxford and Norwich Police Departments were conducting an operation in the Village of Oxford.
Per a release from sheriff, the suspected vehicle failed to comply and officers were then led on an approximate eight mile pursuit from Oxford to Preston. The pursuit was said to have ended on Moon Hill Road in the Town of Plymouth.
It was reported that the suspect vehicle had crashed into a tree and the occupants of the vehicle then fled on foot.
Officers searched for approximately two and a half hours on foot before calling off the search of the individuals.
It was at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, March 8, when the Chenango County 911 Center received a call from a resident in the area reporting two individuals in the area attempting to get assistance from the caller.
