NORWICH – The Northeast Classic Car Museum held their annual Volunteer Recognition luncheon yesterday, March 9, where roughly 50 of its volunteers enjoyed lunch and heard an overview of the year-in-review at the museum.
Museum Executive Director Bob Jeffrey spoke to attendees about some of the highlights of the last year, including a record-high 9,572.9 volunteer hours logged at the museum in 2016 – nearly a 20 percent increase in volunteering hours over the previous two-year period.
“We are very lucky to have so many community-minded people and volunteers who truly make this museum possible,” said Jeffrey. “Without you, the Northeast Classic Car Museum isn't what it is today. Having said that, we are always looking for more volunteers and we are always encouraging people to get involved.”
Jeffrey went on to note that 2016 at the museum also saw a record number of admissions (16,032) and a record number of events hosted (112).
Looking forward, Jeffrey announced a new exhibit titled “Open Road, Open Sky” during the luncheon which will focus on convertibles and motorcycles, and the exhibit is reportedly slated for unveiling in May.
He also revealed to attendees that the Great Race has announced a stop in Norwich on June 24, 2018, when 250 racers will stop at the museum for lunch.
In closing, Jeffrey thanked staff-members Heather Calking, Brenda Rose, and Beth Jensen for their roles in organizing the event.
