NORWICH – With inclement weather defining the spring season thus far, in the case of the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team, Monday afternoon, April 3, was their second time outside this season.

Certainly a tough hand to be dealt when it’s also the same day as your first game. Regardless, the diamond dollies put up a fight in the sandlot as the visiting Saints from Seton Catholic scored two runs over the final two innings of play to steal a win away from the hometown Purple.

Seton scored two runs in the first inning of play, providing the Saints with an early-innings insurance package.

Norwich responded in the third however, when Parker Walsh connected on a pitch driving in two runs to knot the game at two apiece heading into the fourth. From there, a dropped third strike was the break the Saints needed in the sixth inning to plate a run of their own. But the Tornado miscues didn’t stop there, as a passed ball in the seventh allowed Seton to plate another run setting up the decisive final half-inning.
