Senator Schumer to pay visit to UHS CMH today

NORWICH – United States Senator Charles E. Schumer (D - NY) will make a stop at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital today, April 10, at 10 a.m. to discuss his plans to introduce legislation that could financially impact health care facilities throughout New York state.

According to a news release from UHS, Schumer’s legislation – once proposed to the Senate – will aim to permanently instate both the Medicaid Dependent Hospitals (MDH) program and the Low Volume (LV) program – both of which are set to expire on September 30, 2017.

Furthermore, the news release states that as UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is a recipient of both the MDH and LV programs, the local hospital would reportedly lose $1.8 million in annual funding should the programs not be renewed.
