Detective: Second burglary suspect apprehended
NORWICH – According to Detective-Sergeant Reuben Roach with the Norwich Police Department, the second suspect in the burglary case over the weekend has been apprehended.
19-year-old Noah Cutting of Norwich was arrested by the Norwich Police Department and arraigned in Norwich City Court on Monday.
He was charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony; and criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony.
The burglary charge alleges that Cutting knowingly entered or remained unlawfully in a building with intent to commit a crime therein.
The criminal mischief charge alleges that Noah Cutting damaged property of another person in an amount exceeding two hundred fifty dollars.
On Sunday April 9th, at approximately 8:34 a.m., the Norwich Police Department received a burglary complaint from a business on Borden Avenue. An employee had arrived to work that morning and found that the business had been burglarized and that there had been damage done inside the building. Steven Cutting was arrested Sunday and stands accused of burglary as well.
“After an in-depth investigation involving the burglary of this business, the police department has identified the second suspect involved in this case as Noah Cutting,” said Detective Sergeant Reuben Roach. “With the help from members of this community, as well as the steadfast work from members of this law enforcement agency, we were able to make the arrests of these two individuals in a timely fashion.”
Cutting was arraigned before Judge James E. Downey and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. According to authorities, he is to reappear in Norwich City Court Thursday for a felony hearing.
