Chobani sponsors My Plate, My State recipe competition for three local schools
NORWICH – Chobani® was founded on the belief that good food, made naturally, can change the world. To inspire that belief among the youth of our local community and share the joy that comes with making and sharing good food, Chobani® created the My Plate, My State recipe competition – an event that culminated last month in three local schools and, this month, will unfold in Chobani®’s second hometown, Twin Falls, Idaho.
As part of the My Plate, My State recipe competition, middle school students of Edmeston, Norwich and Unadilla Valley were challenged to create their own recipes utilizing Chobani® yogurt with a focus on the My Plate nutrition guide and inspired by their state, New York. Each location was met with excitement from students and staff alike, as five top recipes were picked from each location before performing a cook-off for three food experts from the local community.
Winners were announced at the award ceremonies this week, with special guest Dr. Robert Post, senior director of the Chobani® Nutrition Center and regulatory affairs, and inventor of the My Plate nutrition guide, giving a brief presentation on nutrition and the importance of balanced meals before handing out prizes.
First prize winners included Rylee Chapin from Edmeston for her Cho-bo chicken with creamy cucumber salad, Humula Gabone from Norwich with her chicken and vegetables Chobani® style and Trevor Smith from Unadilla Valley, who won for his creamy coconut chicken soup recipe. All of the winners received prizes and an array of Chobani gear.
The My Plate, My State recipe competition will continue this month with its activation in Twin Falls, Idaho.
