Greene Girls track and field team wins in MAC league meet

SIDNEY – The Greene Trojan girl’s track and field team won in a tightly scored match-up with the host Sidney Warriors 57-54, with the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats finishing third on Wednesday May 10.
For the boys competing on track, Sidney claimed victory with 61 points, B-G placed second scoring 36 points, and Greene finished third recording 31 points.
For the Greene women, they nearly swept all of the events on the track.
Jessica Champlin of Sidney won the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.77 seconds. Starting off the plethora wins for Greene was their victories in the 4x100 relay and 4x800 relay races, recording times of 55.57 seconds and 12:50.9 minutes, respectively.
Katie Anderson ran to a win in the 1500m with a time of 5:30.65 minutes. Madison Rice ran a 65 second victory in the 400m, and Nicole Flohr took first place with a time of 13.89 in the 100m dash and claimed another top finish in the 200m dash with a time of 28.86 seconds.
Mary Klecha took home another first place finish in the 400m intermediate hurdles with a time of 1:24.56 minutes, Chloe Parks took the 800m race in stride recording a time of 2:40.91 minutes.
The Greene women’s 4x400 squad took the final first place for the Trojans on the afternoon, sprinting to a time of 5:26.35 minutes.
The girls from Bainbridge-Guilford took two first place finishes in the meet, both in the field events. Abbi Selfridge took the win in the Long Jump, leaping to a distance of 14’7.5”. In the Pole Vault, Kristen Chambers claimed her team’s second and last victory of the day, vaulting to a height of 7’.
As for the Bobcat boys, their fortunes would change, recording five individual victories in the meet. Damian Knapp took first in the 1600m race with a time of 6:24.89 minutes. Devyn Gaudreau took the 400m race in stride, running the oval in a time of 61 seconds. Nick Petrutoni took claimed three victories for himself running a time of 11.68 seconds in the 100m dash, and a time of 24.29 seconds in the 200m dash. Petrutoni then took to the field events, winning the Long Jump with a leap of 19’4.5”.
As for the Trojan boys, Nate Barry claimed the sole victory for Greene, with a win in the Triple Jump. Barry’s jump of 33’9”.
The Trojans and Bobcats are back in action on Friday, May 12, when they travel to Oneonta to participate in the Yellowjacket Invitational at Oneonta High School.
