Relay for Life teams urged to attend Tuesday's meeting
NORWICH – With less than two months remaining until the 2017 Relay for Life of Chenango County, event organizers are extending a reminder for participants to attend an important Team Captains' meeting this Tuesday, May 16.
The meeting will commence at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room at SUNY Morrisville, Norwich Campus.
“We have had a very low turnout at the past few meetings, and we've given out a lot of important information regarding the changes the event is making this year,” said Marie DeSarro, Relay for Life of Chenango County Public Relations Coordinator.
Among the changes this year's Relay for Life of Chenango County will feature is a venue change from the usual location at the county fairgrounds to East Park in Norwich.
DeSarro says it's important for team captains – or at least a representative of a team – to attend Tuesday's meeting, where attendees will be able to pick a site for their team to be based during the event's festivities.
According to DeSarro, one point of discussion on Tuesday will be concerning what will be allowed at each team's site.
Teams at this year's relay will be allowed a pop-up tent, DeSarro said, but there are a number of city ordinances that come into effect with the venue change, and these points will be discussed at Tuesday's meeting.
“We will only have one more real sit-down meeting with everyone in June, so this is an important time to get caught up to speed on what's coming up in the next few months,” DeSarro said.
