UV Superintendent to be speaker at Memorial Day Ceremonies
NEW BERLIN– Frank H. Arnold Post 348 of the American Legion is pleased to announce that Mr. Robert Mackey, Superintendent of Unadilla Valley Central School will be the guest speaker at the Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 29.
Memorial Day observances will start with the annual parade at 9:30 a.am, leaving the Hyde Park and will be proceeding south on North Main Street and entering the Milford Academy School lawn on South Main Street where the ceremonies will take place at approximately 9:50 a.m.
The following order of march is suggested: American Legion, American legion Auxiliary, Unadilla Valley Central School Band and Color Guard, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Pittsfield Fire Department, New Berlin Fire Department and any other organizations or units that want to participate.
All Veterans, no matter what branch served in or the time frame of their service, are requested to fall in behind the American Legion and participate in the parade as well.
All those who are marching should have their units at Hyde Park between 9 and 9:20 a.m. American Legion members who take part in the annual parade are asked to be at the legion home at 9 a.m. If someone is unable to march, the post asks that those individuals try to be infornt of the Milfrod Academy School, on the terrace by 9:45 a.m.
Post 348 asks the community to honor the day with displaying our National Flag and observance the true meaning of Memorial Day.
