Assault on Monday; police ask for help from public

NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with regard to an assault that took place earlier this week.
According to The Norwich Police Department, it is currently investigating an assault that occurred on Silver Street Monday evening.
Police said that at approximately 8:14 p.m., the NPD received a radio call from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office regarding an assault that had just occurred on Silver Street in the City of Norwich.
According to the NPD, officers arrived and found the victim laying in the middle of the street.
The victim had sustained injuries to their head and face, said police.
The Norwich Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to the emergency room of the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The victim was later transferred to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
Police said Thursday that this is a current and active investigation by the Norwich Police Department.
