Community shows support at Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser

NORWICH – A fundraiser was held at the Canasawacta Country Club (CCC) Pavilion on Saturday, June 10 to help establish The Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Williams, a 2016 Norwich graduate, unexpectedly passed away on December 20, 2016 following an automobile accident on her travel home from SUNY Geneseo to Norwich for Christmas break.
Friends and family of Savannah have since rallied to establish The Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund in her memory: a scholarship to be awarded annually to two graduating-Norwich seniors who share similar passions as did Savannah: an aspiration to contribute to the science world, a commitment to community and education, and a passion for athletics.
The fundraiser Saturday saw a noteworthy turnout as upwards of a hundred of people showed their support in attending an afternoon of live entertainment, competitive golf, raffles and auctions, food, and fond memories of Savannah.
The fundraiser's golf tournament was won by Chenango County Court Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. along with teammates Ryan Kelly, Brennan Ryan, and Tom Ryan, after the foursome collectively shot a round of 60 and subsequently won a playoff hole beating out Lee Skillin, Chris Maynard, Justin Bennett, and Matt Ryan.
DJ Carlos Ithier supplied the music stylings to kick-off the afternoon's festivities before Mike O'Connor and Leslie Pasco took to the stage.
After O'Connor and Pasco, Bad Influence rocked the pavilion to set the scene for The Ryan Clan, who capped off the evening.
While a dollar amount-raised had not been calculated by The Evening Sun's print time, event organizers have proclaimed the event to be a success.
