Fun, food, and fireworks lined up for hometown 4th of July festival
NORWICH – There’s more than fireworks in store for the 4th of July celebration taking place this year at the Chenango County Fairgrounds.
This Independence Day, the fairgrounds will be flooded with music and entertainment as “Fireworks Over the Fairgrounds” gets underway. The hometown festival entails an evening of entertainment, recreation, and a lineup of musical acts featuring country music star Ashton Shepherd as the headliner.
Gates will open at 4 p.m., and tickets to the event is $10 at the gates or can be purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased at Hummel’s Office Plus in Norwich, the Chenango County Fair Office or online at brownpapertickets.com. Kids 15 and under can get in free courtesy of Mathews Ford. If you’re just looking to enjoy some spectacular fireworks, the cost at the gate is $5
“Thank you to all of the sponsors, we could not pull of an event of this size without their support. We are excited about having Ashton coming to Norwich. Every year we like to give our community an opportunity to experience the chance to not only listen to the music but also the opportunity to possibly meet a star like Ashton Shepherd” said Terry Potter, event coordinator
This event will also be the Toys for Tots “kick off for the kids” in Chenango County. To participate in “kick off for the kicks”, please bring a toy to donate and receive a free item from the concession stand for your generous gift.
A number of activities are planned throughout the evening. This years family fun zone will include interactive activities sponsored by the Artist Palette and inflatables/ bounce house for kids before heading into the explosive 4th of July fireworks show after 8:30. This years fireworks show is sponsored in part by Phoebus Lodge 82-the masons of New Berlin.
Meanwhile, a lineup of local and regional musicians will play the stage spotlight starting at 4 p.m. Acts include Cassidy Lynn, Kaitlyn Jackson, Jason Wicks and High Voltage (a middle school group from Norwich).
In addition, “Fireworks Over the Fairgrounds” will host a variety of vendors selling an assortment of merchandise and food vendors including Tuller’s Catering, Nina’s, and The Stadium Sports Bar and Grill.
Kicking off the evening will be a grand display of fireworks made possible by sponsorship from Matthews Ford, Chobani, M&T Bank, Professional Tire, Community Bank, NBT Bank, Blueox, Commerce Chenango The Evening Sun, and the Pennysaver.
