Greater Norwich Foundation names additional scholarship recipient
Editor's note: Yesterday's article regarding the 2017 Greater Norwich Foundation scholarship recipients erroneously left out a recipient. The omitted information appears as follows: Sarah Harvey, attending SUNY Oneonta, was recipient of a new scholarship that was awarded this year: the Robert N. Endries Scholarship. A description of Mr. Endries on behalf of the Greater Norwich Foundation is as follows:
"Mr. Endries graduated from NHS in 1954, where he was an outstanding athlete in football and track. He attended Cornell University, receiving local financial assistance along the way. Upon graduation, he was commissioned an officer in the United State Marine Corps. Following his service, he graduated from Syracuse University Law School and returned to Norwich, where he passed his bar exam and served as the confidential clerk to Justice of the State Supreme Court Hon. David F. Lee, Jr. Eventually Mr. Endries left Norwich for a career in corporate law with Bristol-Myers. However, his loyalty to Norwich and sense of gratitude for the opportunities that were provided to him by this community never left. The Greater Norwich Foundation and all future scholarship recipients are very grateful for Mr. Endries generosity in establishing this scholarship."
