Greene, Sherburne, Edmeston and UV players earn PONY League All-Star status

COOPERSTOWN – The summer baseball season in Chenango County ended on Monday July 31, as members of the Otsenango PONY League got together one last time for their seasonal summer classic.

Held at Doubleday Field- a venue rich in history and baseball lore, members of the Otsenango PONY League took to the field for one last day on the diamond.

The four divisions A, B, C and D, were all split into two teams to create the youth baseball spectacle.

For the Chenango County all-star members that were selected to participate in this prestigious game, Greene’s Broc Sherwood and Kolby Finch- who both are versatile enough to play any position on the field.

From Sherburne, Gabe Irwin- Pitcher, Catcher and Shortstop, Noah Posson- Outfield, Shortstop, and Bret Bates- Catcher and First base. Notably, Irwin could not attend the game due to prior commitments.

Unadilla Valley saw Cameron Osborne, Pitcher, First Base, INF, OF.

Edmeston, rounded out the teams in or bordering Chenango County, having three players selected – Josh Martin, Pitcher, Shortstop, and any other position, Nate Jennings, Catcher, Pitcher, third base, as well as any other position, and Parker Robinson, who entered with no preference, being able to play any and all positions.

And surely enough it was a Chenango County vs. Chenango County match-up as Greene and Edmeston joined divisions A and B to create Team Palmatier as Sherburne and UV joined divisions C and D as a part of Team Gaske.
